Curt Anderson 00:01
Hey, Damon, good morning, good afternoon. Happy Wednesday to you. How are you? My friend,
Damon Pistulka 00:07
I’m doing great. Curt, ready to go for the day?
Curt Anderson 00:10
Awesome. What’s what’s hot and heavy? What’s exciting today?
Damon Pistulka 00:13
Oh, we got lots of stuff going on. It’s, I mean, a full day meetings, working with clients and other stuff. So, man,
Curt Anderson 00:21
just making the world a better place, my friend. Way to go pre Hey, give a little round of applause for Damon out there, right? So Damon, appreciate you. So we’re going to dive in today. We’re going to talk about LinkedIn live streaming, and in particular, how to grow your business, how to grow sales, create wonderful relationships. Let’s dive into LinkedIn live streaming for business growth strategies. Your immediate thoughts when I say that, what goes through your mind when I say LinkedIn live growth strategies?
Damon Pistulka 00:50
Well, I think LinkedIn live streaming strategies to grow your business. I think about the way that you can build community and meet incredible people in your industry while you’re connecting with your soulmate potential customers and existing customers.
Curt Anderson 01:07
So if somebody’s new out there, when you say soulmate customers, just give us a little tidbit like, What’s What do you mean by that? What’s soulmate? What’s a soulmate customer?
Damon Pistulka 01:14
Well, we’ve, we’ve got an ideal customer in mind when we look at our business, right? And we go that this is the customer that I love working with. This is they because of these characteristics, and our ideal customer profile is something we take some time and really define, because as we do that, the better we know our customer, the better we know what challenges they have, what things that they’re they’re going through, the better we can work on information and other things that will help us to and share things that will help them. So yeah, I
Curt Anderson 01:49
love that. And so, you know, it’s a great line. You know, when you try to be everything to everybody, what happens?
Damon Pistulka 01:55
Nothing to no one,
Curt Anderson 01:57
nothing to no one, right? Master jack of all trades, master of none. So I love what you’re saying there. So diving in to that ideal customer, aka that soulmate, who just, you know, you’ve really laser focused and come to the real realization of, like, what are your core strengths, what are you absolutely best at? And then identifying who is that ideal customer, that soulmate, that you can really move the needle for So okay, so you create that ICP, that avatar, that that buyer persona profile, if you will, and you’ve married it with your core strengths, your opportunities. Now let’s take it a step further. So for LinkedIn live, you go here live, you know, just like we’re doing today. And so if this is new to somebody out there walk us through, how about creating that, you know, we want to start creating that referral network. See, it’s a new entrepreneur, you know, man, I have a clean slate, like I’m just starting. I have very few sales, if no sales, you know, creating that strong, vibrant referral network. Let’s go there for a minute. What does that look like? Yeah,
Damon Pistulka 02:59
you know, this is, this is really the start of virtual networking. I think when you when you think about virtual then move it into in person as it gets, gets it makes it appropriate. But really what you can do is you can look at those same kind of people that you would network with if we were sitting at a networking meeting somewhere or something like that, and start reaching out to them and go, Hey, I know what you’re doing. Let’s start. Let’s talk on a live stream about how you’re helping people so we can get get to know you better, and how you’re making the world a better place. Well, what that does for you as the live streamer is you get to know them. You get to ask them questions. You get time before the live stream. You get time during the live stream to ask those questions, and after the live stream, and you’re helping that person, and you’re getting to know them. It’s just a really smooth way to be able to go, Okay, I want to network with people, and I want to start by offering them value, right,
Curt Anderson 03:56
you know? And so I we have a little tagline that we love to use, you know, that k y s, know your soul mate, and then h y s, demon, h y s, just explain to folks what on earth we mean by h y s. It’s
Damon Pistulka 04:10
about helping your soul mate. And you know, and like I said, if you get the right people in your referral network, they’re also helping your soul mates. It might just be in a different way, and that’s really what you’re looking for in that referral network, is, you know, if I can find someone that’s helping a lot of my soul mates with a one to many relationship, that’s even a better referral partner for me, so I really want to be talking to them as much as I can, and if I can get them to come on a live stream and share how they’re making the world a better place, like I said before, it just helps to build the relationship. Yeah,
Curt Anderson 04:43
I love that. So, you know, let’s dive in so we practice what we preach. So, yeah, this little thing is, you’re as you’re referring to that soul mate, right, that ideal customer. We’ve coined this little phrase. We call it the soul mate, 100 soul mate, 100 Damon. Do you care to explain? And I’m going to pull up a little example. Here, if you can’t explain what as simple
Damon Pistulka 05:01
as this is, this is a, this is a listing of your current and potential referral partners. I mean, the people that do have one to many relationships, people that you would want to have on your live streams, or people from the organizations within the live them to have them on the live stream. Really to you know, get yourself in a position so they know, like and trust you. Well,
Curt Anderson 05:26
I love that. Hey, we’ve got a couple. Hey, man, our good friend Michelle Miller is in the house, aka Michelle. Where is she here? Michelle Miller Jones, right? And so, hey, Michelle, you know what? Damon, it’s been way too long, Michelle, you need to get back here on the show. Whenever she’s on, she just brings absolute fire. She says, spot on. It’s all about building trust. No like and trust. Love that line. And Anderson has a great question here. Let’s take a look. Can you get into the nuance between the traditional ICP and the ideal customer profile in a soul mate customer? You know? I love that. Let’s, you know. Let’s dive in here. So you know what I have pulled up here? We’ve created this little tool that we love, man. I’ve got a free copy for you if you want to take a look. No strings attached. It’s this tool that we’ve been working on with our clients. We just love putting it out there. We’ve been building it with our clients over years, and it’s been, I won’t even say, a labor of love. I just love working on this thing. Yeah. So what we have here is we have the ideal customer profile. Is, remember, I’m going to dive into that one second. Anders, what we’re looking at right this second is I have the soulmate, 100 Damon, just describe a little bit what’s on. So this is our like we’re showing, hey, this is our list of soulmate 100 just describe who’s this soulmate. 100 and then Anderson out one second. I’m going to dive into that buyer persona.
Damon Pistulka 06:42
Well, these are, these are people that have one to many relationships with our our soulmate, potential soulmate customers and existing customers. So it’s, it’s one of the things that you use to really help you focus in on, okay, how am I building my referral network? Who am I talking to on my referral network? Who would be a good resource for me to share with my network of people, and really looking at these soulmate 100 people and intentionally reaching out to them at appropriate times and scheduling live streams to really share how they’re helping, helping your potential and existing soulmate customers. Yeah, yeah. So
Curt Anderson 07:20
just think about, you know, who those relationships, you know, just now go kind of broad or general, you know, who do we think of, say, like the networking groups, maybe the Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Center, your trade associations, you know, those are great places to start. Okay, how can I start creating that referral network? We take it one step further. Think about, you know, if you’re in the manufacturing space, you know, I manufacture lamps. Well, who could I connect with? Well, the light bulb manufacturer. What about the lampshade manufacturer? What about the the night stand manufacturer? You know, how can we cross collaborate with these folks? This is a list of folks on here. These are just wonderful. You know, Michelle, she’s one of our soulmate, 100 if you will. We have different marketers on here, different agencies that are focused on working with, you know, different manufacture, you know, different manufacturing agencies that we work with align with, and it’s a great fit and a great relationship Damon just, you know, I just can’t encourage people enough to go deep on this. And we’ve really nurtured this for our live stream strategy to bring these folks just share a little bit like how we build relationships with these folks they come on our show. What does that look like?
Damon Pistulka 08:30
Yeah, you know, it can be a variety of ways that you’re doing it. It could be that they’re coming on the show with some of their customers, even to show how they have done certain projects with some real, real world application of things that they’re doing. It can be that they have subject matter experts on the show to talk about specific things that are in cus our listeners in the audience really wants to hear about so there’s a lot of different ways that they can do that to really help them share and get their their you know, how they’re helping the world out, or specific examples of how they’ve helped people so that the audience can find the help they need? Yeah,
Curt Anderson 09:18
I totally agree, and I’m going to pull up a couple things here real quick. And so, you know, so let’s dive in. I’m going to go over to Anderson there about, you know, how do you dive into that ideal customer compared to that soul mate? So, Anderson, you know, that’s just a little fun term that we’ve coined. And I just, I find, and, you know, we’re in a manufacturing space, very heavy B to B industrial. And for some reason that that soulmate, that line, that tagline, just really resonates with people. So, you know, we just love using that, you know, I guess maybe it’s kind of a crossover, Damon, maybe it’s one of the same, but, you know, let’s go here. We have a little exercise. Damon and I are baseball fans, if you will. And so we have a little exercise to help us identify. Five, those ideal customers, those soul mates, if you will. And what we call it is like, Hey, who’s that single who’s that customer that comes around, you know, maybe once a quarter every other month, but just solid, man, I have, you know, numerous of these single customers. If one goes away, so be it they come, you know, that type of thing. Then we look at like, you know, who’s that double, right? And how about Damon? How about those triples and those home runs? Man, right? Yeah,
Damon Pistulka 10:24
those are the ones that are going to be the one to many, right? Got a lot of a lot of potential in them, right?
Curt Anderson 10:30
Exactly. So, you know, that’s one way to look at it. Anderson, then, you know, another thing with this little digital game plan that we have is we dive in here, and so we actually have a buyer persona worksheet that we put right in here. And the cool thing is, it’s just, it’s a fun exercise. We love going through this with our clients. As a matter of fact, this is our dear friend Lisa. She’s a client of ours. Here’s another soulmate, Damon. She’s up in Alaska. We’ve been, we’ve visited on site with her. And this is our dear friend Lynn. She’s a manufacturer in Alaska. And so what we’re trying to do is dive in and understand like, what are Lynn’s problems? What are her challenges? How can we help her move the needle? What are her goals? How can we help help her achieve that? So the nice thing is, right in this digital game plan, we can dive into that buyer persona. We dig into that that rounding the bases, what are our singles, what are our doubles? And we start seeing common themes and characteristics of these different bases, if you will. And that helps us narrow down and stay in our lane stain focus and man, if something comes our way Damon, and it’s just not really out of you know, then back to our soulmate. 100 Yeah, great, deep bench of subject matter experts that you know. Man, it’s going to make us look so much better by us referring our friends, you know, our clients, to friends that that are better in this space than what we would do, because now it’s just a mess. You know, yeah,
Damon Pistulka 11:48
yeah. It is, it is. It is, yep. So it’s one of those things when you do that, when you’re working with your soulmate, 100 there, you Great point. You know, someone could come to you with a challenge that you can help with. But by building this list, or not this list, by building these relationships with so many different soulmate 100 people, you are then a problem solver for your clients and potential clients, even if you’re not the problem, if you’re not directly solving the problem. You’re putting them in touch with people you know that can do that can help them. I mean, that that’s proven very valuable for me in my work, because don’t do everything, right? We don’t do everything, but when we know people that do this stuff, it’s incredibly powerful,
Curt Anderson 12:34
right? It’s very powerful. When you know a guy, you know I know a gal, I have an expert in this space. So whatever it is that you know, whatever problem you solve, you know. And I know we’re probably being a little bit of Captain Obvious, but the thing is, when you put this in a structure, and this is what we just found in the power of the digital game plan here is now like we’re getting it’s not just stuck in our mind, you know. And it’s not somewhere in a random email or some random Google Doc or, you know, wherever we’re keeping it. It’s like, we try to document everything right here. So like, Okay, who are our Ronnie, you know, who are those singles, who are those doubles, who those triples, who those home runs, who are really trying to target here, sales wise, right? Yeah, and then taking a deep dive and just identifying, truly understanding, and again, I know, like, you know, Damon, sometimes it becomes lip service. But when you really understand, like, Hey, this is what my soulmate is going through. This is the challenge that he or she is facing today. And man, I have the ability. I have this product, I have a service, I have a solution, I have experience that I could help pull that off their plate and bring it and take them to a new level. You know, that’s where the magic happens. What are your thoughts there? Yeah,
Damon Pistulka 13:42
it really, it really is powerful. It just is powerful to use this like that. I don’t know what else to say. It’s I mean, because you this whole process, and like you said, being organized and intentional with the LinkedIn live streaming strategy to grow your business. It is, it is a different way of doing business development. It is a much more natural way of building relationships and and really building your value to your potential soul mates,
Curt Anderson 14:15
right? Exactly. So the thing is, so let’s as well. We’ll slide in this statement. So the thing is, how do we marry this concept, right? We have our soulmate. We have that soulmate, 100 and now, all right, I hear you, LinkedIn live. Where does that come into play? Bunch pull, marry these two together. If you could just talk about how LinkedIn live, strategy just really strengthens these relationships. Yeah, well,
Damon Pistulka 14:40
I think, I think the for me anyway, as I think about it, it’s, it’s because LinkedIn live being a social platform of business professionals, then and B to B business, lots of B to B business happens on LinkedIn live. Well, this is a great place for you to share this person. Expertise or this customer’s experience with your network. And it’s not necessarily your customer, but it could be one of your soulmate 100 customers, it could be one of your customers. The same thing with a subject matter expert or an industry influencer. You could share their thoughts with your network, and their network gets to see your your thoughts, as well as you’re doing this, it really begins across collaboration of of building community around your industry. Yeah,
Curt Anderson 15:29
here’s a perfect example. So I just, I highlighted a company on this list that’s called Big commerce. So if big commerce is new to you, you know the publicly traded company, you know 60,000 customers. They’re, you know, an E commerce shopping cart, SAS solution, just very powerful solution. They’re dedicated to helping manufacturers. And so the nice thing is, you know, they’re on that soulmate 100 list for us by, you know, tag teaming and partnering with amazing, wonderful people at Big commerce. You know what it does? It helps us to strengthen our credibility by partnering with them and having, you know, those relationships. So now, when we invite these folks on the show, it’s you know, we can dive into their expertise. What they do best at in showcasing theirs. Damon, we’ve had numerous people from big Commerce on the show. What do you want to add?
Damon Pistulka 16:18
No, I think it’s a great way. It’s like you said, it’s a great example of how by sharing them and what they’re doing to help people, it helps our potential customers, it helps our industry, and it helps them, and it helps us eventually, so in the same manner, and it just really by partnering with people like this and sharing them with the world through LinkedIn live stream. You You are just helping, like we said before, you’re helping your soul mate by giving them options, giving them information, and you continue to be related to with that feeling of of providing help.
Curt Anderson 16:56
That’s right. So Okay, why don’t we wind down, and we’re going to wrap up for today. That was just a short little session on LinkedIn live streaming to grow your business. And again, hopefully this was helpful. If you have any questions whatsoever, reach out to Damon. Reach out to myself. My name is Curt Anderson. We got Damon Pistulka here.
