The Inflection Point: Competing in a Digital World

Pedoc Power Solutions had spent nearly five decades building a successful manufacturing business around something deeply personal: relationships.

However, Pedoc knew digital marketing and SEO were becoming increasingly important, especially when competing against larger manufacturers with more people, funding and marketing resources. The challenge wasn’t recognizing the opportunity. It was knowing what to do next.

“We knew what a keyword was, knew we needed them,” Melinda Marks recalled. “Beyond that, the path forward was far less clear.”

The Game-Changing Clarity: Turning Expertise Into Marketing Fuel

Melinda’s search for “SEO for small manufacturers in Illinois” introduced her to a B2Btail webinar. After connecting with Curt Anderson, Pedoc learned about IMEC and a Cook County grant opportunity that helped make B2Btail’s SEO and digital marketing support accessible.

From there, B2Btail helped Pedoc move beyond simply thinking about keywords and start building a practical digital marketing system around something the company already had in abundance: expertise.

Through the B2Btail Digital Game Plan, the team identified opportunities to capture the knowledge of Pedoc employees, customers and industry experts through subject matter expert interviews.

Those conversations became the raw material for authoritative content allowing Pedoc to educate prospective customers while telling authentic stories that generic marketing content could never duplicate.

The strategy also helped Pedoc think differently about content. One interview did not need to become one piece of marketing. It could fuel blogs, LinkedIn posts, videos and other assets extending the value of every conversation.

The Impact: From “We Don’t Know How” to a Repeatable System

Pedoc now has something much more valuable than a one-time marketing campaign: a growing digital marketing capability.

“We knocked it out, or we all knocked it out together,” Melinda said at the project closeout.

The latest engagement produced tangible assets Pedoc can continue using long after the project:

Just as important, Pedoc is learning how SEO, content, subject matter expertise, social platforms, video and AI can work together rather than as isolated marketing tactics.

“We’ve been given a lot of tools over the last couple of years,” Melinda said, while emphasizing that Pedoc is still working to implement the full spectrum.

That distinction matters: the story is not finished. Pedoc has built the foundation and is putting it to work.

What’s Next: Taking Pedoc to the Next Level

Pedoc is now preparing to bring higher-capacity power pedestal models to market while continuing to expand its digital capabilities. The company is exploring new content, video and AI opportunities as search itself continues to evolve.

For Melinda, the direction is clear:

“I’m excited to take Pedoc’s online marketing to what I think is the next level for us.”

Nearly 50 years after personal connections helped build Pedoc, the company is finding new ways to bring that same expertise, credibility and human connection into the digital world.
