Curt Anderson  00:01

Hey Damon, what is up, brother? How are you, man?

Damon Pistulka  00:05

Having a good time today, getting ready for it.

Curt Anderson  00:07

Getting ready for it. All right. So, are you sitting down? Are you ready for this?

Damon Pistulka  00:10

Yes, I am.

Curt Anderson  00:12

All right. Let’s dive in. So, dude, we have something super exciting to announce. We have a new software tool. It’s called the Digital game plan. We have been working on this for a long time, working with our clients over a number of years, and we are just thrilled to finally we’re dropping the curtain. You know when you get a vehicle, Damon, and it’s got that new car smell, right? Yes, you know that you know what I’m talking about. Yes, this thing. I think you’re going to actually smell it right through your computer. It’s got that new wonderful that new car smell. So let’s dive right in. And hey, as we’re showing this, just share a little bit like your perspective on digital game plan. Why has this been so valuable, so helpful? What are your thoughts?

Damon Pistulka  00:53

Well, because it really helps you align your strategies first and foremost, and then helps you move forward with building your marketing strategy and then the execution on it, right? Because so many people are sitting here today saying, “Hey, I need to market, but where do I start? And they’re getting barraged by, “Hey, you should do email marketing. You should do this. You need website, whatever it is. But you have to step back first, and this is when it’s been so helpful with the clients we work with. Is really step back and go through the processes that you’ve developed in the digital game plan to align everything. Know who you should be talking to, ideal customer profile, what we should be talking about, all the way through that. Because then, when you launch your marketing, you’re so much more targeted and focused. It can actually be effective.

Curt Anderson  01:46

100% my friend. 100% So the cool thing is, you know what? Hey, it’s it’s still summer technically, right? Still summer. So we have. Damon, do you like ice cream? Are you an ice cream guy?

Damon Pistulka  01:59

I have had ice cream before? Definitely, you’ve

Curt Anderson  02:02

been you’ve been known to have a little ice cream in your in your day, right? Is that correct? So, man, I had the honor, I had the privilege. I got to speak at Penn State earlier this year. So, so what a incredible, wonderful university! And if anybody that’s connected to Penn State knows that they have this wonderful legacy brand, it’s the Penn State Creamery, and it was founded in 1865. Man, I’m telling you, ice cream. Oh my gosh, I’m like, it’s just to die for. It’s just such a wonderful, right on campus. And so, what we’re gonna do here is we’re gonna take a look. Here’s an example of a digital game plan, how it works, and we’re gonna show it for our little our friends at the Penn State Creamery, and you take a look here. One of the first steps, you know, so many companies they dive into like that SWOT analysis, and that’s exactly what the starting point here is. It goes into the strengths. What are you absolutely best at? One question, Damon, you and I love to ask. How do you make the world a better place? Why is so? I’m going to be Captain Obvious. You know, going through like these core strengths, what are you absolutely best at? Why is this so important for our friends out there to start that marketing journey right there in that first step? How you make the world a better place? What are your thoughts?

Damon Pistulka  03:10

Well, I think it’s just because we really need to know what we have to focus on because the most important things to our customers are the things that we should be talking about, not all the other things that we want to talk about, but we should really focus in on what we are best at helping our customers achieve.

Curt Anderson  03:29

And I think I I honestly feel that we spend a significant amount of our time working with clients, like really diving into like what are they best at. You know, if you’re a manufacturer, you know, you’re a CNC shop, you you know fabricator. You know a lot of times we we find ourselves getting a little bit broad, and the nice thing is here is like it really helps us get that laser focus into our lane. So what this tool does here, you know, like heritage dating back to 1865, Penn State brand carries built-in trust. So again, for our small manufacturers that have maybe never done this before. Like, hey, we’ve been in business for decades, and we’re kind of doing our thing. And so, this is a great exercise. We’ve had so many epiphanies and aha moments going through this with our clients. The next step is diving into like, hey, what are those opportunities that are header ahead of us? Damon, you and I are huge raving fans of that book, Blue Ocean Strategy. For anybody out there that’s not familiar with that book. What is Blue Ocean Strategy?

Damon Pistulka  04:25

It’s it’s how you really help to differentiate yourself so you’re not you’re not fighting in the same market that everyone else is because you found ways that you are better than your competitors in specific areas that will set you apart.

Curt Anderson  04:40

Yeah, I you know if for our friends out there on LinkedIn, I’ll tell you a phenomenal example of blue ocean strategy. If you if if anybody out there follows the gentleman Savannah Bananas, man, like just oh yeah, like who came up? You know, like so you think of like these unique brands that just took a commodity or just something that’s been around forever. Savannah Bananas is a phenomenal example. That is a great

Damon Pistulka  05:03

example.

Curt Anderson  05:03

But you know, think about like what are those opportunities that could separate you? Whether it’s the machinery you have, your folks, your skill set, expertise, whatever engineering, whatever it might be, and how can we just like really exploit that? Or with a changing market, right? If there was legacy products that are maybe kind of taking a step back, where are there future opportunities? And then the last thing you started hitting on this, we call it the so what. So the strengths, opportunities, and the so what. And this is really powerful. I’ve been hitting this with a lot of clients lately. On we call it that strategic subtraction. What are the profit killers? What are the time wasters that are just really kind of more distractions? You do a great job working with your folks on this. What do you What do you want to share on that front?

Damon Pistulka  05:52

Yeah, if it’s not important to your customers, why are you spending time on it? It’s just that simple,

Curt Anderson  05:57

right?

Damon Pistulka  05:57

Don’t spend time on it. Don’t talk about it. Don’t put it on the page,

Curt Anderson  06:01

right? Simple, but not easy. Hard to do, super hardy, right? Not not simple, but not easy. So anyway, we’re gonna fly through this quickly. So this tool is completely brand new. We would, you know, we’ve been building this with our clients, with our manufacturing friends, different marketing friends, just getting feedback, and just you know this tool is completely free, no strings attached. We’re just very passionate about what this tool can do, what it solves. All you have to do is just you pop in your website. It’s AI powered. It just reads all of it. Damon, let’s take a couple more stabs here on you know rounding the bases. Now, what it does, it pulls in like different potential business opportunities, maybe customers, that type of thing. It it pulls it right off of your website if you don’t see the the exact list that you want. It has an AI prompt here where you can tailor it a little bit. Singles, doubles, triples, home runs. What do you think about this step here, my friend Damon?

Damon Pistulka  06:58

It’s it’s our way of segmenting customers, customer segmentation-we’ve all heard it and said in different ways. It’s like you’d think the home runs are the big whales you’re trying to get, and the singles are the people that show up and buy once in a while that you never knew were there. And you know, a lot of times we see people that are working in the doubles and triples space, but when we run these things, it really does show new opportunities for them. A lot of times,

Curt Anderson  07:27

I just I was working with a client today on going through this process. It is just so powerful going through this list and really diagnosing. You know, most companies have that Pareto principle, right? That 8020 rule, and it really shines a bright light on like, okay, this is the type of customer that we’re pursuing, and it’s so important to know who you’re marketing to, who you’re speaking to, and the last thing I want to show here, the tool actually creates these buyer personas. Now, for example, hey, let’s say if we’re at Penn State at the Creamery and we want to target the Harvard University Dining Hall, right? What a great connection that would be. And so, what this tool does, it actually creates that buyer persona and dives into like what are the frustrations, their motivations, what what things are they looking for, types of of information that they’re trying to make those buying decisions. And then there’s all sorts of other tabs here that help you create that strategic plan, that digital game plan. Damon, any thoughts that you want to share here as far as the buyer persona and the next steps?

Damon Pistulka  08:30

No, I think this is this is a tool. If someone is starting their marketing journey, you definitely want to check this out. It’ll get you going, and you can you will find some new things in here.

Curt Anderson  08:44

Yeah, and the last step, well, you know, you and I talk about this frequently. Our dear friend Wesleyan talks about this all the time. Is like, what’s that buyer journey? Now, you know, we always like to say people don’t like to buy, but man, they love to be successful. And so, what the tool does, it tries to help you get inside the mind of your ideal buyer, and how can we help them be successful? And it goes through the five stages of the buying process. And then, what’s that trigger? What’s that search behavior? What’s the emotional state? And then we’re going to dive deeper on how can we provide that educational information to help them make that buying decision. So this all sorts of wonderful things in this tool here. We come down here at the bottom. There’s actual you can process notes. There’s a content calendar. There’s a little white CRM. So all sorts of fun things, completely free. We would welcome your feedback and hope you take advantage of this. Our clients have been loving using this over the past few years, and we’re super excited to get this launched into the market. And Damon, that’s a wrap. How’s that?

Damon Pistulka  09:48

Yes, it

Curt Anderson  09:50

Thank

Damon Pistulka  09:50

you.

Curt Anderson  09:51
